Global footwear manufacturer Changshin Inc. (CEO Choongil Nam; hereinafter Changshin) held its Car-Free Day event on the 24th to raise awareness of the severity of the climate crisis and to underscore the importance of carbon neutrality. The event, a signature activity embodying Changshin’s commitment to practicing sustainable management and responding to the climate change crisis, has continued since 2022 and is now in its third year.

Car-Free Day is a day when employees commute by public transportation instead of by car. It is Changshin’s eco-friendly campaign to reduce carbon emissions with the voluntary participation of employees and to raise awareness of environmental protection.

On the day, 977 Changshin employees used public transportation instead of their own cars, cutting approximately 7,221 kg of CO₂ emissions, an effect equivalent to planting 1,094 trees.

Changshin plans to continue eco-friendly activities such as Car-Free Day to fulfill its social responsibility and lead the way in practicing carbon neutrality.

Changshin has held its Car-Free Day event every September 22 since 2022 in observance of World Car-Free Day, but it was postponed by about a month this year to accommodate the Chuseok holiday and work schedules.
