Changshin Inc. held the “Carbon ZERO, Starting with Me” Challenge with employees at its headquarters’ in-house cafe to mark World Environment Day on June 5.

The campaign encouraged tumbler use, raised employee awareness of environmental protection, and made reducing disposables part of daily life, contributing to lower carbon emissions. On the day, employees who brought their own tumbler to the in-house cafe received a special additional discount.

In addition, the company installed a tumbler storage rack in front of the in-house cafe to make tumbler use more convenient for employees. If all headquarters employees (978 as of May 31, 2024) use tumblers, the company expects to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 12 tons a year. Drinking one iced Americano from a tumbler cuts carbon emissions by 52 g.

Changshin also ran tumbler-use campaigns in 2020 and 2022 and provides new hires with a welcome kit that includes a tumbler to promote a culture of reducing disposables.

Explaining the campaign’s purpose, a Changshin representative said, “Coffee after lunch has become a common part of the culture, but people often find it a hassle and forget to bring a tumbler,” adding, “With this campaign, we wanted to create an occasion for putting small efforts for the environment into practice.”

Changshin plans to continue rolling out a variety of eco-friendly activities as part of its ESG management.
