Changshin Wins Minister’s Award as an Outstanding Affirmative Action Company

  • Contributing to the growth of female talent and the promotion of a work-family balance culture; recognized for real change

Global footwear manufacturer Changshin (CEO Choongil Nam) received a Minister of Employment and Labor commendation in recognition of its contribution to actively supporting the growth of female talent and creating a work environment that respects work-life balance.

On May 28, Changshin was honored with selection as an Outstanding Affirmative Action Company at the 2025 Gender Equality in Employment Week ceremony held at the Olympic Parktel in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

The awards ceremony, organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, was established to honor institutions and companies that have contributed to creating a gender-equal employment environment and promoting a culture of work-family balance. The Affirmative Action category in which Changshin was recognized is awarded to only the top 10% of companies, based on a quantitative evaluation of indicators such as women’s employment rate, the share of female managers, and improvements in employment management.

Changshin was highly rated for going beyond short-term programs to overhaul its HR management framework and refine its systems so that female talent can gain real opportunities and develop continuously at every stage, from hiring through employment to growth. While actively operating flexible work arrangements such as reduced working hours during child-rearing, staggered commuting, and family event support to help each employee balance work and life, the company has provided practical education opportunities and an environment for growth without career interruption with programs such as next-generation women’s leadership conferences, external training, in-house mentoring, and customized capability-building programs. It has also steadily continued institutional practices to reduce gender bias in hiring and expand employment diversity.

A Changshin representative said, “As the numbers show, with women accounting for 81% of Changshin’s more than 70,000 employees worldwide and 56% of all managerial positions, this award recognizes that the changes we have built have led to real results,” adding, “We will continue to further solidify Changshin’s own organizational culture, one where anyone can grow with fair opportunities.”
