Global footwear manufacturer Changshin (CEO Choongil Nam) has taken a meaningful step to support the advancement of promising young athletes in the Busan area.
On the 8th, Changshin held the Busan Sports Prospects Shoe Presentation Ceremony at Sajik Baseball Stadium together with the Lotte Giants and the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, and provided high-performance running shoes it developed and produced in house to 100 student athletes who will lead the future of Korean sports.
The support is the fruit of the “One Stolen Base = One Pair” social contribution initiative Changshin signed with the Lotte Giants last May to commemorate surpassing one billion pairs in cumulative footwear production. It is even more meaningful as a model case of cooperation among the government, the private sector, and the club, aligned with the regional youth sports talent development policy pursued by the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education.
The recipients are 100 students from four schools in three sports: ▲ track and field (Busan Physical Education High School and Pusan National University High School) ▲ baseball (Suyeong Elementary School) ▲ and volleyball (Gyeongnam Girls’ Middle School). They include many athletes with high potential, notably Jungi Kim (third year, Busan Physical Education High School), who won the high jump in the high school division at the 106th National Sports Festival held in Busan this year, as well as the Gyeongnam Girls’ Middle School volleyball team and the Suyeong Elementary School baseball team, which won gold and silver medals, respectively, at the 54th National Junior Sports Festival.
Lotte Giants player Junwoo Jeon also attended the ceremony and added to the occasion by encouraging the young prospects.
Changshin CEO Choongil Nam personally handed each student a pair of shoes along with a message of encouragement. “I am delighted to present shoes embodying Changshin’s technology to sports prospects who will advance onto the world stage,” Nam said. “I sincerely hope this one pair of shoes becomes the start that awakens these athletes’ boundless potential, and that they grow into athletes who represent Korea,” he added.
Meanwhile, Changshin plans to continue growing together with the local community and providing steadfast support as young sports talents turn their dreams into reality.
