Changshin Earns Top Rating in the 2025 CDP Climate Change Assessment

  • Top 4% among more than 24,800 companies worldwide; proof of global climate response capability
  • Three consecutive years of rating upgrades; environmental management established at the industry’s highest level

Global footwear manufacturer Changshin (CEO Choongil Nam) has earned Leadership A, the highest rating, in the 2025 climate change category from Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the world’s most authoritative sustainability assessment body.

The achievement places Changshin within the top 4% of more than 24,800 participating companies worldwide, demonstrating that its climate response capabilities and environmental management system meet global standards. This is especially significant because the company recorded a C rating in 2023 and a B in 2024 before reaching Leadership A in 2025, dramatically improving its environmental management performance over three consecutive years.

CDP, founded in the United Kingdom in 2000, is a nonprofit international organization that asks major companies worldwide to disclose management information on environmental issues such as climate change and forests, then analyzes the disclosures to assess each company’s response and transparency. Along with the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), the CDP assessment is a highly credible global ESG indicator for judging a company’s environmental management standards and capabilities. Ratings are divided into eight levels: Leadership (A/A-), Management (B/B-), Awareness (C/C-), and Disclosure (D/D-).

Changshin received high scores in recognition of its sustained climate efforts, including ▲ accelerating the transition to renewable energy at each of its sites, ▲ strengthening its system for managing climate change risks and opportunities, ▲ signing on to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), ▲ and expanding the calculation and third-party verification of Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions (direct, indirect, and supply chain emissions). Notably, it scored A- or higher in 14 of the 16 detailed assessment categories, demonstrating the excellence of its management system.

Changshin CEO Choongil Nam said, “Earning the CDP Leadership A rating shows that Changshin’s environmental management has established itself at a level that meets global standards,” adding, “We will continue to lead the sustainable future of the footwear manufacturing industry with transparent disclosure and systematic carbon reduction efforts.”

Beginning with the transition of its Indonesian site to 100% renewable electricity in 2023, Changshin has been actively practicing ESG management regarding both the environment and society, including receiving a Minister of Employment and Labor commendation in 2025 in recognition of its efforts to expand gender equality in employment, and supporting shoes for promising young athletes in the Busan area.
